A little about me.....
As a guitar teacher, I am interested in helping the guitar student meet his/her individual goals, so I tailor my approach in each lesson to the student and their interests. I teach all ages, from five to eighty-five and all levels, from beginner to advanced. I play electric and acoustic guitars and teach most styles from pop, blues, classical, jazz, country and gypsy jazz using the large resource of song transcriptions I have made over the years. I have been teaching since 1982, have a degree in guitar performance from GSU, and have been in master classes with Christopher Parkening, Jose Thomas, Lee Ritenour and many more.
As a songwriter, along the way, I have had songs released on major labels, gotten international airplay and had them performed on the Jay Leno show. I wrote one song apiece for each of the Aquarium Rescue Unit's first two CDs. All the songs for the Bonaventure Quartet's CDs, 'The Secret Seduction of the Grand Pompadour', 'Lost and Found at the Clermont Lounge', and the upcoming, 'Young, Rich, and Beautiful'. Also all the songs for Bernadette Seacrest's CD, 'The Dirty South Sessions'. And all the songs on Chateau Debris CD,' 'Venus has Seen Us.'
As a performing guitarist, In the 1980s I was a founding member of the Aquarium Rescue Unit, which featured Jimmy Herring, (Widespread Panic, Jazz is Dead, Grateful Dead), Otiel Burbridge, (Allman Brothers, Trucks Tedeski Band), and Jeff Sipe, (Trey Anastaio, Leftover Salmon). I wrote songs recorded on their two Capricorn CDs, 'Live at the Georgia Theater', and 'Mirrors of Embarrassment'. Here's an article on those times on Jambands.com. I've toured Europe twice and have shared the stage with members of the Allman Brothers Band, Phish, Widespread Panic and more. I've led Atlanta's Bonaventure Quartet since 2000 which has won Creative Loafing's Best of Atlanta 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. The Bonaventure Quartet has released three CDs, received critical acclaim internationally, enjoys regular airplay internationally and performs at every venue and festival in the Atlanta area from the Variety Playhouse to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. I also perform and record with such diverse Atlanta artists such as Caroline Herring, Bernadette Seacrest, Tongo Hiti and others.
